This month, we’re shining our Supporter Spotlight on Aon, who’ve been supporting Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm for an incredible 14 years through volunteering, fundraising and unwavering enthusiasm.
We spoke with Phil Davies, Head of SME & Specialisms, a driving force behind Aon’s long-standing commitment to the charity and its mission to give local children unforgettable experiences.

How it started
When Phil joined Aon, the charity was already the company’s nominated cause – a connection that began when one colleague’s younger sister benefited from a break at Lineham Farm. Inspired by that personal story, Phil and the Aon team were determined to give back, building a relationship that has lasted over a decade.
Making a difference
Aon’s support has taken many forms over the years – from volunteering and bucket collections to creative, community-driven fundraising.
Highlights include:
- Painting and decorating: Teams of volunteers rolling up their sleeves to help at Silverdale, our charity’s former home, and at Lineham Farm, ensuring children have bright, welcoming spaces to enjoy.
- Bucket collections: At events like Leeds United matches to raise funds and awareness.
- The annual Pub Treasure Hunt: Perhaps the most iconic of Aon’s contributions, this fun networking event around Leeds city centre attracts colleagues, insurers and participants from across the UK – up to 180 this year alone! One participant summed it up perfectly on LinkedIn: “My favourite event of the year!” In 2025, the Treasure Hunt raised £2,500, with Aon adding a further 25% through its charity funding scheme – a remarkable contribution to helping children who need it most.

Why it matters
For Phil and the Aon team, supporting Leeds Children’s Charity is deeply personal:
“I feel fortunate to be able to take my children on holidays and the memories created we still talk about today. The charity helps children have a break and create their own memories. All kids deserve a chance – it’s the least we can do.”
Their motivation goes beyond fundraising; it’s about giving children moments of joy, safety and inspiration.
The impact on their team
The charity work has also strengthened Aon’s own team.
“The volunteering we have done is great at a team level, where you get to know people better away from the office environment. The Treasure Hunt is just a fantastic networking event which brings people together.”
Final word
A huge thank you to everyone at Aon – especially Phil Davies, Susan Nichols and Kelly Bateman – for your generosity, dedication, and time. Your long-term support has made a real, lasting difference to countless children.
Phil’s advice for other businesses?
“Have a chat with the team – their enthusiasm and the work they do at the charity’s home, Lineham Farm, is amazing. The stories the young kids share after their visits really do make you want to do more.”
