What We Do

We provide breaks for children in Leeds facing disadvantage through residential stays, outdoor learning and trusted support at our home, Lineham Farm — filled with adventure, fun and learning in a safe, happy environment. We help children experience childhood as it should be.

Who we work with

We work alongside schools and social services to support children facing poverty, hardship, and difficult circumstances at home.

At Leeds Children’s Charity, children:

• Spend time away from challenging environments

• Learn and explore outside the classroom

• Build confidence through new experiences

• Improve wellbeing, emotional resilience and mental wellness

• Enjoy being children — safely and freely

Why we exist

Today, 1 in 4 children in Leeds is growing up in poverty.

Too many children are missing out on the safety, stability and experiences every child deserves. Without support, the effects of poverty, trauma and difficult circumstances can last a lifetime.

Leeds Children’s Charity exists to help change that.

Through residential breaks, outdoor learning and safe, nurturing experiences at Lineham Farm, we give children the chance to breathe, grow in confidence and believe in brighter futures.

Each year, we support over 3,000 children across Leeds, helping create moments of joy, belonging and childhood that every child should experience.

Together, we can change the story for children across our city.

What a stay with us at Lineham Farm can do

A stay at Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm gives children the chance to step away from everyday challenges and experience childhood as it should be.

Children have the freedom to play, explore nature, feel safe and calm, and try new experiences they may never have had before — from climbing and biking to bushcraft and outdoor adventure.

For many, it’s a chance to simply relax, build friendships and enjoy being children.

These experiences do more than create happy memories. They help children:

• Build confidence

• Develop resilience

• Improve wellbeing

• Feel a stronger sense of belonging

• Believe in brighter futures

Every visit helps create positive experiences that can have a lasting impact long after children return home.

Why your support matters

Today, over 24% of children in Leeds are growing up in low-income households. Many children do not have access to the safe, enriching experiences that help build confidence, wellbeing and opportunity.

Without early support, the effects of poverty and inequality can continue into adulthood — impacting education, mental health and future outcomes.

That’s why the work of Leeds Children’s Charity matters.

With your support, we can provide residential breaks, outdoor learning and positive experiences that help children feel safe, valued and hopeful about their future.

Your support helps make this possible.

With your help, we can reach more children.

Together, we can make sure no child is left behind.
