We are delighted to officially welcome Duncan Pearse as the new Chair of Trustees for Leeds Children’s Charity
Duncan joins us at an exciting and important stage in our journey following the launch of our new brand and website — a major milestone in our ambition to reach and support more children, young people and families across Leeds. Duncan also joined us at our rebrand launch event on 12 May, where he spoke about the importance of creating opportunities, improving wellbeing and ensuring every child has access to safe, positive and life-enhancing experiences.
Duncan brings more than 25 years of experience supporting children and young people across community, residential and outdoor settings. He is currently Chief Executive of Northpoint and has held a number of senior leadership and governance roles across the voluntary sector, with extensive experience in mental health, wellbeing, safeguarding and youth support services.
Speaking about his appointment, Duncan said:
“I am honoured to join Leeds Children’s Charity at such an important stage in its journey. The charity has a powerful mission and a deeply committed team.
I look forward to working with colleagues, trustees and partners to strengthen our impact and ensure more children can access the experiences they deserve.”
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to outgoing Chair Ian Hargreaves for his leadership, commitment and support during a significant period of development, growth and transformation for the charity.
Sharon Milner, Chief Executive of Leeds Children’s Charity, said:
“We are incredibly pleased to welcome Duncan as our new Chair of Trustees. His experience, values and passion for improving outcomes for children make him an exceptional addition to the charity.”
Duncan joins us at a pivotal point as we continue to strengthen our impact, grow our partnerships and ensure more children across Leeds can access safe, joyful and life-enhancing experiences.
We also want to thank Ian Hargreaves for the commitment, guidance and leadership he has provided throughout his time as Chair.”
Our vision is a city where every child in Leeds has the opportunity to experience a happy, safe and fulfilling childhood, regardless of their background. Through early intervention, outdoor learning, residential experiences and wellbeing-focused support, we are committed to helping break the cycle of poverty and creating brighter futures for children and young people across Leeds.
