Running for Leeds Children: Ben’s Story
Ben began supporting Leeds Children’s Charity in early 2026 after discovering the charity while searching for local causes making a real difference to children and families across Leeds. From the moment he learned about our work, he knew he wanted to get involved.
“Some of my fondest childhood memories come from school trips to farms and activity centres,” Ben shares. “Knowing that Lineham Farm creates those same experiences for children and young carers right here in Leeds made my decision easy.”
Since then, Ben has been fundraising in support of our work, already raising an incredible £345 towards his £1,000 target ahead of his ultra marathon this October.
Ben’s journey is also deeply personal. Earlier this year, he sadly lost his beloved nanna, Rita. Through his fundraising, he found a meaningful way to honour her memory while supporting children who deserve the chance to make happy memories of their own.
In a touching moment, Ben and his family were invited to Lineham Farm to plant flowers in Rita’s honour — something he describes as a memory they will cherish forever.
Visiting the farm gave Ben the opportunity to see first-hand the impact of the charity’s work.
“I was blown away by everything — the facilities, the passion of the staff, and the care that goes into every experience,” he says. “It’s somewhere I’d love my future children to visit.”
Ben’s story is a powerful reminder of the difference local support can make. Thanks to supporters like Ben, we can continue creating safe spaces, joyful experiences, and lifelong memories for children across Leeds.
