Gears, grit and generosity: Crossroads cycle challenge smashes their fundraising target

Crossroads Truck & Bus Ltd has successfully completed a three-day, 158-mile charity cycle ride in support of us at Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm, raising an incredible total of £11,786. The fundraising effort saw 10 members of the Crossroads team cycle from Volvo Trucks UK & Ireland Headquarters in Warwick to the company’s depot in Birstall, Leeds.

This is the second consecutive year that Crossroads Truck & Bus Ltd has taken on the cycling challenge in support of our charity – and this year they went one better, beating their previous fundraising total.

The cycle took place from 16–18 June and covered a challenging route split across three days. The team cycled from Warwick to Derby on the first day, continued from Derby to Ladybower on the second, and completed their journey from Ladybower to Birstall on the final day. Despite the physical demands of the ride and increasingly hot weather, all participants completed the route successfully, reporting no punctures or mechanical issues!

The team raised £5,893 through individual and team fundraising efforts. In a demonstration of its ongoing commitment to charitable causes, Crossroads Truck & Bus Ltd pledged to match the funds raised, bringing the final total donation to £11,786. The company, a local Leeds-based business and trusted Volvo Trucks dealership, has supported various community initiatives over the years and continues to play an active role in giving back to the region.

Simon Webb, Area Sales Manager at Crossroads Truck & Bus Ltd, said: “We’re all extremely proud of what we’ve achieved. It was a challenging few days, both physically and mentally, but the backing we’ve received and the great cause that we were riding for made every mile worthwhile. It’s a pleasure to be able to support the fantastic work of Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm.”

The funds raised will support our work, helping us to provide vital residential breaks and enriching experiences to some of the most disadvantaged children in Leeds.

Our Chief Executive, Sharon Milner, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the team at Crossroads Truck & Bus for their dedication, generosity and hard work. This kind of support enables us to continue delivering experiences for disadvantaged children who need them most. The impact of this donation will be felt far beyond the cycle ride – it will help to create memories, build confidence and provide much-needed breaks for many young people.”

We extend our sincere thanks, alongside Crossroads Truck & Bus Ltd, to all those who donated, supported and helped make the fundraiser a success.
