We’re happy to share an exciting addition to our team at Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm. As we continue our mission to support even more children across Leeds, we are delighted to introduce Lisa Williams, our new Head of Fundraising.
Lisa brings extensive experience in the charity sector, with a strong track record of developing successful fundraising strategies and building meaningful relationships with supporters. As a Yorkshire native with a passion for creating opportunities for disadvantaged children, Lisa is perfectly positioned to help us expand our reach and impact in the Leeds community.
We are really pleased to have Lisa as part of the team. With her expertise and enthusiasm, we look ahead to sharing our purpose and supporting even more children in Leeds. We sat down with Lisa to learn more about her background and vision for the charity.
Great to meet you Lisa – please tell us a little about yourself
I’ve worked in the charity sector for a number of years, most recently with Bradford Hospitals Charity and the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund. My background is rooted in fundraising, relationship-building, and creating opportunities that connect supporters with the causes they care about. Throughout my career, I’ve been driven by a desire to create real impact, particularly for children and families facing challenges.
What drew you to Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm?
Leeds Children’s Charity has such a special mission – providing respite and memorable experiences for children who might not otherwise have those opportunities. The chance to be part of a team delivering something so tangible and joyful really spoke to me. I’m passionate about local charities that make a visible difference in their communities, and this felt like a perfect fit.
What makes a fantastic charity, in your view?
A fantastic charity is one that leads with purpose, compassion, and integrity. It listens closely to the people it serves, adapts to their needs, and never loses sight of its core mission. Transparency and accountability are vital – supporters need to trust that their time, donations, and energy are making a real difference.
What are the benefits of fundraising to individuals and communities?
Fundraising does so much more than raise money – it builds connection, purpose, and a sense of achievement. Fundraising brings people together around a shared cause and often sparks lasting friendships and personal growth.
What are you most looking forward to about working at the charity?
I’m most excited about connecting with our supporters and sharing the stories of the children we help. There’s something incredibly powerful about showing people exactly what their generosity achieves. I’m also looking forward to exploring new fundraising initiatives and growing our presence across Leeds and beyond.
What are your biggest challenges and goals for the year ahead?
Awareness is always a challenge, so one of my key goals is to make sure more people know about the incredible work we do. I also want to develop new partnerships and grow sustainable income streams so we can reach even more children.
How can people best support a local charity, in your opinion?
Supporting a local charity doesn’t always mean giving large sums of money – it’s about showing up in whatever way you can. That could be donating, volunteering your time, attending events, sharing our messages on social media, or even just talking to others about the work we do.
Local charities thrive on community involvement. When people feel connected to a cause on their doorstep, it creates a powerful ripple effect. Whether you’re a business looking to partner with a charity, a school wanting to get involved, or an individual with a few spare hours, every contribution helps.
What else are you passionate about, outside of your work?
Outside of work, I’m passionate about staying fit and healthy, and spending time with family and friends. I love getting outdoors whenever I can – it’s such a great way to reset and recharge
Thanks Lisa!
