Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm is recruiting a new Chair of Trustees to help lead the organisation through an exciting period of growth, transformation, and strengthened governance.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced and values-driven leader to join a long-established children’s charity in Leeds dedicated to supporting children living in poverty, experiencing trauma, or facing disadvantage.
Strengthening Governance and Long-Term Sustainability
Following a comprehensive governance review, Leeds Children’s Charity is introducing several new Trustee roles to enhance resilience, improve strategic oversight, and safeguard the charity’s long-term future.
These changes are designed to:
Strengthen board governance and leadership
Support financial sustainability
Improve safeguarding and risk oversight
Reach and support more disadvantaged children across Leeds
Alongside these governance improvements, the charity is progressing an organisational rebrand and has invested significantly in new fundraising and engagement roles to expand its reach and impact.
An Exciting Time to Join Our Board
This is a pivotal moment for Leeds Children’s Charity. The new Chair of Trustees will play a central role in shaping strategy, supporting the Chief Executive, and ensuring the charity continues to deliver safe, high-quality outdoor experiences at Lineham Farm.
The Board is seeking an inclusive, collaborative, and strategic leader who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people.
The organisation is particularly committed to strengthening equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) at Board level, ensuring that governance reflects and champions the communities it serves across Leeds.
Making a Lasting Difference for Children in Leeds
Each year, Leeds Children’s Charity provides residential breaks, outdoor learning, and respite experiences for thousands of children. Many of the children supported face significant challenges, including poverty, social isolation, or difficult home circumstances.
Strong governance and strategic leadership are essential to safeguarding and growing this life-changing work.
Chief Executive Sharon Milner said:
“We look ahead with confidence and optimism, united by a shared purpose: to give more children the chance to learn, grow and thrive. If you share our commitment to inclusive leadership and creating lasting positive change, we would be delighted to hear from you.”
