We’re shining this month’s Supporter Spotlight on the brilliant team at Maples Group, who’ve been supporting Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm since January 2025 through fundraising, volunteering and boundless enthusiasm.

We spoke to Bryony Harrison, Facilities Operations Manager and Chair of the Group’s Charity Committee.

How it started

The Maples Group team set out earlier this year to choose a charity to support — and after an internal office vote, Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm was chosen!

Upon learning more about our mission and visiting the farm, the team was inspired by the positive, lasting impact the charity has on disadvantaged children.

Making a difference

Since January 2025, Maples Group has made a significant, heartfelt contribution to our cause:

  • A team of 15 colleagues tackled the Yorkshire Three Peaks, raising £2,532.
  • Neil McGregor, Lead Product Manager, took on The Great Leeds Walk solo, adding £350 to the total.
  • Over 20 volunteers from the company have participated in three volunteering days, helping maintain and enhance the farm’s facilities for visiting children and families.
  • Looking ahead, plans are underway for a raffle and bake sale later this year.

Why it matters

For the Maples Group, supporting the charity goes beyond fundraising — it’s about creating real, meaningful connections:

‘Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm is an amazing charity, making so many children happy and feel safe. The staff are equally as amazing and it’s clear to see how much they truly love and care for the children, and the charity. They have been so helpful and supportive and have made our experience so enjoyable.’

The impact on their team

Beyond the children, the experience has had a positive ripple effect throughout the team at Maples Group:

“We believe it’s so important for businesses to support charities. So many charities, especially smaller ones, don’t receive the help or recognition that they truly deserve. Not only does it help the charity, but fundraising activities and volunteering days also help colleagues to interact, and they work as great teambuilding exercises.”

Volunteering and fundraising together has fostered teamwork, pride and a shared sense of purpose within the company — and they’re already planning their return.

Final word

A huge thank you to everyone at Maples Group for their time, generosity, and belief in the work we do! From scaling peaks to baking cakes, they’re making a real difference for children who need it most – and we can’t wait to see what they tackle next.

Their advice for other companies thinking about getting involved?
“DO IT! It’s rewarding in so many ways. Our experience with Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm has been fantastic, and we can’t wait to support them again next year.”
