More than 40 supporters braved soaring summer temperatures to take part in the Great Leeds Walk on Saturday 12 July 2025, raising over £7,000 in aid of Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm.
The much-anticipated event returned for another year of community spirit, determination and fundraising — this time in blazing 30-degree heat. Walkers of all ages and abilities came together to tackle one of three routes – 10, 17 or 26 miles – all starting from ouf charity’s home at Lineham Farm and weaving through some of Leeds’ most scenic and historic landscapes.
Participants were treated to the stunning views of Chevin Forest Park, the natural beauty of Otley, Almscliffe Crag and Washburn Valley, and hidden gems including the Slabbering Baby spring. Further routes led through Norwood Edge Forest, red kite country, Eccup Reservoir and into Horsforth and Meanwood, showcasing the very best of Leeds’ countryside and history.
The event drew corporate teams, groups of friends, families and solo walkers alike — all united by their determination to make a difference to disadvantaged children across the city.
Sharon Milner, our Chief Executive, said: “We were blown away by the turnout and the effort every walker put in on what was an exceptionally hot day. The Great Leeds Walk is all about community, compassion and challenge – and we saw that in every step taken. The funds raised will have a direct impact on the children we work with, helping us to provide life-changing breaks and experiences for those who need them most.”
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants, supporters, volunteers and donors who made the day such a success.
